Q & A

Q: Where is the best place to hire skis?

A: If you ski at a good level and require skis offering more performance, Simon Butler Skiing has a limited number of skis available for hire (please contact our office for more information).

Champfort Sports, our recommended supplier, is located opposite the Hotel Chalet d’Antoine and a short walk from the Soleil d’Or. Champfort Sports provides a first class hire service and you’ll find everything you need in the shop – coupled with excellent personal service from World Cup skier cross champion Valentine Scuotto and her father, Philippe.

See Other Services Section.

Q: Can you cater for someone with specific dietary requirements?

A: Our chefs are highly experienced at preparing foods to meet all needs. However, it is important that you make us aware of any special dietary needs well ahead of your holiday. In this way we can ensure our chefs make the necessary preparations for your stay.

There is a space on our booking form for you to tell us about any special requirements. And please feel free to add more detail on a separate covering note if necessary.

We know circumstances change, so if you do need to make any additions or alterations after completing the booking form, please contact us straight away – by telephone, email, or in writing – to alert us to your needs.

A: We are able to provide Evasion Mont Blanc lift passes at a discounted rate. If you choose to take up this option, we ask you to provide your chalet manager with cash at the time of your arrival. Lift passes will then be available for collection from the chalet manager before dinner.

If you wish to pay for your passes by credit card, you can do this online prior to your arrival, or you can do so in person once you have arrived in Megève.

If you wish to pay by credit card in resort, or if you wish to ski on your arrival day, you will need to go to the ticket office which can be found at the Chamois Lift Station in the centre of the village.

Q: Will I be able to ski as soon as I arrive?

A: It’s likely that there will be time for you to ski on your arrival day, but we can’t guarantee it. When you arrive in the resort, our chalet staff will unload your luggage and make sure it gets to your room. Once this has been completed, your chalet manager will collect lift pass money in euros (not Traveller’s Cheques).

Guests renting equipment from Champfort Sports are then encouraged to head straight to the shop to collect their ski equipment. Of course those people with their own skis and boots are free to head for the ski lift a little earlier. Half-day lift passes can be purchased at the Chamois Lift Station.

Q: How do I know what ski group I’m in?

A: Ski groups will be posted in the chalets upon your arrival. There is also an opportunity to meet your instructor before dinner on your arrival day.
